Queensland<\/a> coach Billy Slater<\/a> probably hasn't forgotten how good Kalyn Ponga<\/a> is, but he received a reminder on Sunday afternoon with the five-eighth dominating the Gold Coast<\/a> at McDonald Jones Stadium.<\/p>\n

With Reece Walsh putting in some sensational performances at the Broncos, plenty of debate has come around the Maroons fullback position but Ponga silenced the doubters in Newcastle's \ufeff46-26 win.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old finished with one try and three try assists in the strong victory as the Knights \ufeffreturned to winning form after an embarrassing 43-12 loss to the Eels<\/a> in round nine.<\/p>\n

Ponga's try \ufeffcame about from burning the Titans defence at halfway before he fooled Jayden Campbell at the back with a dummy.<\/p>\n

"That does deserve a standing ovation, that was pretty \ufeffspecial from Kalyn Ponga," Penrith great Greg Alexander said on Fox League.<\/p>\n

"That is brilliant … shows the ball on the inside, doesn't miss a beat, still has the acceleration to get around the fullback. Yes, pump the fist absolutely."<\/p>\n

Alexander – who's on the New South Wales Blues coaching staff – added the star is a definite chance to retain the fullback jersey for Queensland.<\/p>\n

"If Queenslanders wanted to see something from Kalyn Ponga they've seen it now," he said. \ufeff<\/p>\n

After scores were tied 12-12 at half-time, the Knights had to mount a comeback when Campbell put the Titans ahead in the 46th minute. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Ponga's electric try came in the 60th minute which gave them a 28-18 lead before a 46-26 win was sealed at full-time thanks to a Dom Young intercept when he ran 90 metres to score.<\/p>\n

Young finished with a double \ufeffalong with centre Bradman Best, while David Fifita scored two tries as well for Gold Coast to stamp his credentials as an Origin player.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fox League post-game, Ponga was delighted with his turnaround in performance after a poor showing against the Eels. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Obviously happy with the win, I was pretty disappointed with my performance after the Parra game, and I knew I'd get myself out of it through hard work\ufeff," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm proud of my performance today but more so the boys, to get that win at home, it was a big win for us and we needed it."\ufeff<\/p>\n
