A last lap pass on TCR Australia Series<\/a> front-runner Jordan Cox sealed for underdog Michael Clemente a popular if not controversial win in race two at Phillip Island.<\/p>\n

Cox led the lion's share of the race having taken the lead into turn one, and had his rear-view mirror full of Clemente with one lap to go.<\/p>\n

The privateer, who brought a brand new Cupra Leon to the second round of the season, forced his way up the inside at turn two on the final lap.<\/p>\n

Cox opened the door just enough for Clemente to sneak the nose of his car down the inside, but made contact with the Peugeot 308 ahead of him.<\/p>\n

Clemented completed the pass but Cox was none too happy with as he raised his hand in disgust.<\/p>\n

Joined by a throng of supporters, pit lane erupted as Clemente crossed the line for his first win in the TCR Australia Series.<\/p>\n

"I'm bloody speechless," he told Stan Sport's Chris Stubbs.<\/p>\n

"It's been a long time coming. The whole Cupra deal started a long time ago and to do it now on debut with the family here, on Mother's Day especially, it's pretty emotional.<\/p>\n

"It's been such hard work. We're a little team punching above our weight and we've had a lot of bad luck, finally I think it's turning around and we're ready for it."<\/p>\n

Cox was reserved when asked of the battle.<\/p>\n

"It was a good battle, so anyway, we'll take that from where we were at the start of the weekend," said Cox.<\/p>\n

"It's good to maximise those reverse grid races like that. The Pug was a little bit tricky to drive in that race but we're happy to finish P2."<\/p>\n

Clemente tried to speak with Cox after the fact who appeared to give him the cold shoulder instead.<\/p>\n

Cox was lucky to make it to the podium after a fantastic save at Lukey Heights saw him drop a wheel in the grass.<\/p>\n
