Sydney Roosters<\/a> captain James Tedesco<\/a> didn't hold back in his assessment of his side's performance against the Panthers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"It's really hard to be captain and serve that up. It's embarrassing. We have a lot to work on," Tedesco told media after the match.<\/p>\n

The Roosters were outplayed in just about every measurable statistic. They lost possession 59-41, and completed at just 68 per cent to the Panthers 90 per cent.<\/p>\n

The Roosters had only about half run metres, made 130 more tackles, and were on the wrong side of both the error and penalty count – albeit narrowly.<\/p>\n

The 48-4 loss was their biggest since a 52-point drubbing at the hands of Souths in round 20 of the COVID-19 interrupted 2020 season.<\/p>\n

"We pride ourselves on working hard for each other but the last two weeks, it just hasn't been there," Tedesco said.<\/p>\n

"We aren't resilient enough. As soon as they score a couple of tries, we just drop our heads and then it gets worse and worse. It's pretty hard to swallow that.<\/p>\n

"We are doing all the right things but our performances aren't up to scratch.<\/p>\n

"We have to have a look at ourselves individually, but we have to keep it internal. Only our team can solve it so we have to stay positive and think we're a chance."<\/p>\n

Coach Trent Robinson said the Panthers gave his side "an incredible lesson", before taking some responsibility for under preparing the side.<\/p>\n

"We are not moving for each other. Things like kick pressures, kick chases have fallen completely away."<\/p>\n

"You can talk about attack and defence, but you can talk about getting the team ready to play and ready to compete and I haven't done that in the last two weeks.<\/p>\n

"We got bitten pretty hard so that's on me, so I have to make sure I get that right and turn it around pretty quickly."<\/p>\n

"In the middle of a competition, you never get too down because you get a chance to turn it around and we have to do it quickly.<\/p>\n

"We have to find it less so in details but more in effort and attitude. We've got to get connected again."<\/p>\n

To compound the Roosters issues, prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves left the field after 16 minutes suffering a pectoral injury and did not return. Joey Manu was also removed from the ground in the second half with an ankle injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Neither are expected to play when the Roosters line up against the struggling Dragons next weekend.<\/p>\n
