B\ufeffalmain Tigers chairman Dr Leslie Glen has come out firing in response to Blue Wiggle Anthony Field's desire to return Balmain to the competition and split from Wests Magpies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reports emerged on Thursday that Field, a fanatical Tigers fan, wanted to purchase the licence and split the joint venture back into the two original clubs, with Balmain returning to its spiritual home at Leichhardt Oval.<\/p>\n

In a statement from Dr Glen, \ufeffField's comments were described as "fanciful and unrealistic".<\/p>\n

"Balmain Tigers Rugby League wishes to reaffirm its steadfast support of Wests Tigers<\/a>, and the club's majority owner, Wests Magpies Pty Limited," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Benji<\/p>\n

"Balmain Tigers Rugby League remains one hundred per cent committed to its investment in Wests Tigers, and to the future of the joint venture club.<\/p>\n

"Recent comments by children's entertainer and long-time fan Anthony Field are fanciful and unrealistic.<\/p>\n

"Balmain Tigers will be making no further comment on this matter."<\/p>\n

Speaking on Nine's Today <\/em>earlier this week, Field admitted that the venture was little more than a dream.<\/p>\n

\"Anthony<\/p>\n

"It's a total dream, I was at a lunch with Benny (Elias), with Blocker (Steve Roach) and with Sirro (Paul Sironen) and the atmosphere was flowing and it just became a question, 'What would you do if you won the lottery?'," Field explained.<\/p>\n

"I said, 'I'd bring the Balmain Tigers back'<\/p>\n

"That's where it came from. It is a lot of fun. If I do win the Italian lottery, and I feel like I have a chance, I will buy the Tiges and let them go their separate ways [and] bring back Balmain Leagues."<\/p>\n
