Tensions have reached boiling point in the National Trans Am Series<\/a> pit lane amid an apparent lack of respect from one driver.<\/p>\n

Brett Holdsworth took aim at former NASCAR<\/a> racer Owen Kelly on the eve of round two at Phillip Island after a slew of on-track incidents.<\/p>\n

In the final race of the SpeedSeries season opener at Symmons Plains, the pair engaged in a battle over fourth place.<\/p>\n

Kelly, who had spun earlier in the race, was seeking to recover places and on the final lap made contact with Holdsworth at the final turn.<\/p>\n

That cast Holdsworth wide of the corner, losing out to Kelly and Tom Hayman.<\/p>\n

For the misdemeanour, Kelly was given a five-second penalty. However, that didn't help Holdsworth much who fell to fifth by the end of the ordeal.<\/p>\n

The pair exchanged words after the race and a scuffle broke out.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Wide World of Sports, Holdsworth said he isn't the only driver who is upset with Kelly's behaviour.<\/p>\n

"He just gets away with too much," said Holdsworth.<\/p>\n

"He can't pass cleanly, can't pass his team-mates cleanly, certainly can't pass me cleanly, so I'm jack of it."<\/p>\n

In any case, the Chevrolet racer said the standard has been set by officials and he'll retaliate accordingly.<\/p>\n

"He gets some pretty pissant penalties applied," he added.<\/p>\n

"And as long as the adjudication is there for the rest of the year and based on previous incidents it's game on with him."<\/p>\n

Asked how he plans to race Kelly should the pair go head-to-head again, Holdsworth said "I won't give him an inch."<\/p>\n

"I'm hoping we can qualify further up the road than him anyway and he can go and punt someone else while he's out there. I won't be giving him any track room, that's for sure.<\/p>\n

"People are getting jack of it. Most people race cleanly out there and you've got one guy that just can't seem to do it. That's the issue."<\/p>\n

Wide World of Sports approached Kelly for comment, offering a one-line rebuttal to Holdsworth's threat.<\/p>\n

"He's got to catch me first."<\/p>\n

The National Trans Am Series forms part of the SpeedSeries program at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.<\/p>\n

James Moffat, son of Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Moffat, topped practice one and practice two for Garry Rogers Motorsport.<\/p>\n

Kelly wound up fourth and second fastest across the sessions while Holdsworth was fifth and sixth.<\/p>\n

The TCR Australia Series headlines proceedings alongside GT World Challenge Australia, S5000, the V8 Touring Cars Series, as well as Australian Production Cars and GT4.<\/p>\n
