League legend Andrew Johns<\/a> has picked apart the stuttering Roosters<\/a> attack, outlining how teen star Joseph Suaalii<\/a> is suffering as a result.<\/p>\n

The Chooks have won five of nine games – plus a bye – to sit eighth on the NRL ladder, but have performed well below what most expected of them this season.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWhile their defence is statistically better than most of the competition, they have scored more points than only one team – the Tigers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With representative superstars James Tedesco<\/a>, Joey Manu<\/a>, and Brandon Smith<\/a> in the spine – as well as Luke Keary<\/a> and the recently axed Sam Walker – the Roosters were tipped to blow teams apart with the ball.<\/p>\n

Instead fans have been subjected to a clunky and disjointed attack\ufeff, and the issue came to a head during a demoralising 20-6 Magic Round loss to North Queensland.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThey are a team of world-class individuals, but that's the problem, they are playing like individuals," Johns told Wide World of Sports' Freddy and the Eighth<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"Hopefully their attack starts to hum. It's all new combinations. Brandon Smith at dummy-half, he's a runner, not a ball-player.<\/p>\n

"We've got Joseph Manu at five-eighth, he's a runner. I just have not seen… Keary bring Manu into play, and Manu bring Tedesco into play.<\/p>\n

"I think Tedesco is playing like an extra forward. I think the halves and the fullback have got to get together and put some plays on."<\/p>\n

A \ufeffcasualty of the stuttering spine is teen centre Suaalii.<\/p>\n

His form since signing a $1.6 million-a-year deal with Rugby Australia has been so underwhelming, sparking reports this week the Chooks were ready to offload him early.<\/p>\n

But Johns says his teammates have been doing him no favours.<\/p>\n

"They had Joseph Suaalii on the right side… I don't think he got the ball in any sort of structure (against the Cowboys)," Johns said.<\/p>\n

"He was just running from dummy-half or doing hit-ups.<\/p>\n

"They've got to sort out some combinations."<\/p>\n

The Roosters take on Penrith on Friday.<\/p>\n
