Blue Wiggle Anthony Field has conceded the idea of buying the Wests Tigers<\/a> and returning Balmain to the competition as a single entity is little more than a dream.<\/p>\n

Reports emerged on Thursday morning that Field, a fanatical Tigers fan, wanted to purchase the licence and split the joint venture back into the two original clubs, with Balmain returning to its spiritual home at Leichhardt Oval.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Nine's Today<\/em>, Field said the suggestion came out of a long lunch with three Balmain legends.<\/p>\n

"It's a total dream, I was at a lunch with Benny (Elias), with Blocker (Steve Roach) and with Sirro (Paul Sironen) and the atmosphere was flowing and it just became a question, 'What would you do if you won the lottery?'," Field explained.<\/p>\n

"I said, 'I'd bring the Balmain Tigers back'<\/p>\n

"That's where it came from. It is a lot of fun. If I do win the Italian lottery, and I feel like I have a chance, I will buy the Tiges and let them go their separate ways [and] bring back Balmain Leagues."<\/p>\n

Field, who is the only original member of the Wiggles still performing, is also a shareholder in the company, with some estimates placing his net worth at around $20 million.<\/p>\n

"I would like to bring the Balmain Tigers back and it's just a dream and Wests Magpies come back and they go to Campbelltown and the Balmain boys come back to Leichhardt and the Balmain women too," he said.<\/p>\n

"The Tigers go back to their home. We get a leagues club. We become frenemies with Wests again and the world is back to normal."<\/p>\n

Private ownership is nothing new in the NRL<\/a>, with Russell Crowe having been involved with Souths for nearly two decades, experience that Field said he would tap into if the opportunity ever arose.<\/p>\n

"Rusty's done really well with Souths and based on the tradition of the club, I love what he's done," Field said.<\/p>\n

"George Piggins, keeping the Rabbits back in the comp all those years ago, I would be on the phone to Rusty straight away."<\/p>\n
