Souths<\/a> have signed one of the brightest young centres in rugby league – and he just happens to be a cousin of Rabbitohs superstar Latrell Mitchell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ethan Ferguson, aged 19, hails from Taree and represented the Australian Schoolboys last year.<\/p>\n

The youngster is a Newcastle<\/a> junior and played in the club's SG Ball team last year.<\/p>\n

Newcastle were keen to keep the strongly-built centre but the lure of playing with his illustrious cousin proved too appealing.<\/p>\n

He has signed a two-year deal with the Rabbitohs for 2024-25.<\/p>\n

The similarities between Ferguson and Latrell are uncanny.<\/p>\n

"They are both outside backs, carry the ball strongly and kick goals," a source close to Ferguson said.<\/p>\n

"It was a tough decision for him because he was happy at the Knights and they treated him well.<\/p>\n

"But the thought of a new challenge and being closer to Latrell and his brother Shaq swayed him to make the move."<\/p>\n
