The CEO of the Warriors<\/a>' major sponsor has doubled down on explosive comments made on social media, where he questioned the integrity of NRL officials.<\/p>\n

And league legend Billy Slater<\/a> has called out the "childish" accusations which set Twitter alight on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Jason Paris, the chief of One New Zealand, \ufeffaccused referees of "cheating of the highest order" during the Magic Round clash with Penrith<\/a>, which the Auckland-based club lost 18-6.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHow biased are the NRL Bunker and referees against the Warriors?" Paris tweeted.<\/p>\n

"Have they got money on them to lose? It's like we are permanently against 14 on the field and they want us to play with 12."\ufeff<\/p>\n

His comments caught the attention of Wide World of Sports and other media outlets and on Monday Paris again took to Twitter, this time to soften his stance.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffJust to clear things up – I do not think the NRL referees are cheating," Paris wrote.<\/p>\n

"They come to work every day to do their best job for the game. My comments were made in the heat of the moment as a passionate fan.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHowever, I do believe that there is unconscious bias happening every week against the Warriors and it needs to be addressed.<\/p>\n

"All we want is consistency, but we are not getting it. Take opinions out of it and analyse the video footage from past games and compare our decisions vs other teams.<\/p>\n

"I think it will find that we are being disadvantaged – then we can work out why and take steps to fix it."<\/p>\n

The Warriors were contacted by Wide World of Sports on Sunday but chose not to comment on the Paris tweets, while the NRL is investigating.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Billy Slater Podcast<\/em><\/a> on Monday, the retired Storm champion\ufeff took Paris to task for his spray.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think it's pretty harsh," Slater said.<\/p>\n

"To be a referee\ufeff in our game, with the scrutiny and the attention around it, would be extremely hard. I think they do a fantastic job trying to adjudicate the rules, at the same time the rules are changing all the time.<\/p>\n

\"NRL<\/p>\n

"To go out and insinuate something like that is totally unacceptable.<\/p>\n

"They are a sponsor of a club. Everyone looks at their game \ufeffand watches their team with a little bit of bias, and sometimes you do get a dud call, and if that's the case you need to approach it professionally and go through the right avenues.<\/p>\n

"You never get anywhere when you attack someone on social media. That's quite childish."\ufeff<\/p>\n

The NRL is yet to publicly condemn or punish the comments.<\/p>\n
