Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> will not have the services of two internationally recognised coaches in 2024.<\/p>\n

Outgoing Japan coach Jamie Joseph won't return to New Zealand and will instead join Rugby League One's Shizuoka BlueRevs (formerly Yamaha), according to Newshub.<\/p>\n

Former Wallabies coach Dave Rennie<\/a> isn't returning to New Zealand either having reportedly struck a deal with the Kobe Steelers in the same Japanese competition.<\/p>\n

It's another blow for the Blues, Hurricanes, and Crusaders \u2013 all of which are on the search for coaching staff in the wake of incoming All Blacks coach Scott Robertson's raid on Super Rugby<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Head coaches Leon MacDonald (Blues) and Jason Holland (Hurricanes) will leave at the end of the season while Crusaders assistant coach Scott Hansen will also part company.<\/p>\n

There are obvious synergies between Rennie and the Kobe Steelers, which has former Black Ferns head coach Wayne Smith on its books as a mentor.<\/p>\n

Smith and Rennie worked together at the Chiefs, winning consecutive Super Rugby titles in 2012 and 2013.<\/p>\n

Brodie Retallick, another familiar face at the Chiefs, will also move to Japan to play under Rennie.<\/p>\n

The former Wallabies coach who was replaced by Eddie Jones had an offer from the Blues but reportedly turned that down late last month.<\/p>\n

Rennie last coached a Super Rugby side in 2017, taking the Chiefs to a semi final that year.<\/p>\n

Joseph was a contender for the All Blacks role now held by Robertson.<\/p>\n

He joined the Highlanders in 2010, enduring their best and worst results as a club.<\/p>\n

In 2013, they suffered their worst finish in the competition, winding up 14th. Two seasons later and the team took out their first Super Rugby title, defeating the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

It remains the only Super Rugby title win for the Highlanders.<\/p>\n

By the end of the 2016 season, Joseph had announced his departure to join Japan's national side.<\/p>\n

Joseph's Japan swept their pool in the 2019 Rugby World Cup famously beating Ireland and Scotland, but fell in the quarter finals against South Africa.<\/p>\n

Joseph last coached the Sunwolves in Rugby League One.<\/p>\n
