Former St George Illawarra<\/a> \ufeffwinger Wendell Sailor<\/a> wasn't overly surprised by the axing of Zac Lomax<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

But he says the exile may not last long, given coach Anthony Griffin appears destined to be sacked himself.<\/p>\n

Griffin \ufefftook a hatchet to his team list<\/a> following a two-point loss to the Bulldogs in round nine.<\/p>\n

Jacob Liddle, Jaiyden Hunt, and Toby Couchman join Lomax on the omissions list as the coach desperately tries to turn the team's form around and save his own job.<\/p>\n

The Dragons board have already begun the process of deciding who will coach the team beyond this season, and given their early-season performances it would be a minor miracle if Griffin survives.<\/p>\n

\"Zac<\/p>\n

The team has won two of eight games played, to sit only above the Cowboys and Tigers on the ladder.<\/p>\n

Lomax – who is earning upwards of $550,000 this season – is a casualty of those woes.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI like Zac Lomax, wonderful player," Sailor told Triple M's Rush Hour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"But at the moment he's not playing good football.<\/p>\n

"Even that break he made on the weekend, Zac's pretty quick… his confidence is down.<\/p>\n

\"Hunt<\/p>\n

"I think this will be good for Zac for a week or two. I'm a big fan of Zac, but at the moment they needed to shake something up, the Dragons.<\/p>\n

"Anthony Griffin, he won't be there too long."<\/p>\n

Sailor played the entire 2009 season on the wing for the Dragons, but left before they won the premiership the following year.<\/p>\n

\ufeffSince then the club has played NRL finals only three times in 12 complete seasons.<\/p>\n
