Scott McLaughlin<\/a> \ufeffcould only laugh after an attempt to fist bump a young fan fell flat.<\/p>\n

After winning the fourth race of the IndyCar Series<\/a> at Barber Motorsports Park, the Kiwi celebrated in Victory Lane with his team, sponsors, and fans.<\/p>\n

One young supporting sporting the colours of Romain Grosjean \u2013 who finished second to McLaughlin \u2013 completely iced the three-time Supercars champ after a photo opportunity.<\/p>\n

Footage of the moment took off on social media, attracting a response from the young fan's father.<\/p>\n

"He was pumped to meet a Bus Bro. Again, no shade, just nervous and oblivious," he wrote.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin replied, "Don't ground him. He was a good kid, that stuff happens to me all the time!"<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old took the moment in his stride, fist-bumping himself, leaving commentators in stitches.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin hailed his latest IndyCar<\/a> win the "most complete race I've ever driven" after driving from fourth to first at Barber Motorsports Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It marked the fourth win in his short single-seater career and the first of the season.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin made his way to the front of the field after executing a three-stop strategy to great effect.<\/p>\n

He led after the final pit stop, only to be overtaken by Andretti Autosport's Romain Grosjean on his out lap.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin regathered himself before mounting another attack, resulting in a mistake by the pole position winner who out-braked himself into turn five.<\/p>\n

That opened the door for McLaughlin, who made a pass and set out establishing a two-second lead to the chequered flag.\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n

"It feels awesome," said McLaughlin of his win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I think we have had the pace. Obviously St. Pete we were strong, contending for wins, maybe not Texas, but Long Beach we were right there.<\/p>\n

"I'm really proud to sort of execute today. Probably the most complete race I've ever driven in an IndyCar, to be honest, from a strategy perspective, picking people off. It was getting pretty tough in the middle when we were making passes, lap traffic, whatnot.<\/p>\n

"Ultimately, when Grosjean got me out of the pits, it didn't catch me by surprise \u2013 well, he caught me napping. It was a great move by him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"To reset, go again, then pass him back with the pace that we had, that's a proud drive for me personally, but from a team perspective, really proud."<\/p>\n

McLaughlin said it was the "perfect way" to end April heading into the month of May \u2013 a spell of events spent entirely at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n

The series will take in a race on the speedway's road course configuration on May 14 before two weeks of action on the four-turn oval headlined by the Indianapolis 500 on May 29.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin's latest triumph sees him vault from 10th to fourth in the drivers' championship.<\/p>\n

Chip Ganassi Racing's Marcus Ericsson still leads, albeit not by much, over McLaren ace Pato O'Ward and another Ganassi product Alex Palou.<\/p>\n
