An 11th place finish wouldn't usually be cause for celebration, making IndyCar<\/a> rookie Marcus Armstrong's reaction to receiving an unusually large trophy all the more justified.<\/p>\n

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver was the 'biggest mover' in the latest race at Barber Motorsports Park<\/a>, rising 15 places from 26th on the grid.<\/p>\n

Armstrong started down the order after copping a penalty for impeding another driver in qualifying.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring Will Power, Scott McLaughlin and Scott Dixon. <\/strong><\/em>All the action streaming ad free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

He then charged through the field, finishing just shy of the top 10.<\/p>\n

"Do I get a trophy for the 10th loser or is this\u2026 what is the reason? I didn't realise you get a trophy for this, but hey, thanks," said a perplexed Armstrong.<\/p>\n

Despite only contesting a part-time campaign of road courses and street circuits, Armstrong is the leading rookie in 2023.<\/p>\n

He leads Juncos Hollinger Racing's Agustin Canapino by 15 points while Sting Ray Robb (Dale Coyne Racing) and Benjamin Pedersen (AJ Foyt Racing) sit 25 and 28 points adrift respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"Marcus<\/p>\n

"Today was great," said Armstrong.<\/p>\n

"I think we had a really good car package in general. We could move through, we could overtake, not many people could I don't think just due to the layout of the circuit \u2013 you know, very fast and flowing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately, yesterday, we had a penalty in quali so we couldn't start where we should have. I'm happy because, we obviously were the biggest mover according to this trophy. So overall, it was a good day."<\/p>\n

Armstrong heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 14 where the series will race on the road course configuration.<\/p>\n

That will act as a precursor to the Indianapolis 500, which takes place on May 29.<\/p>\n

The road course has typically been a happy hunting ground for Formula 2 graduates and it's a circuit that Armstrong is eager to sample.<\/p>\n

"That's what all my F2 buddies have told me, that it is very smooth and the track feels really similar to a couple of European circuits," he explained.<\/p>\n

"So I'm looking forward to that one and I think Road America as well is gonna be something that I'm somewhat used to."<\/p>\n
