\ufeffR\ufeffabbitohs<\/a> star Campbell Graham has continued to build a strong case for a State of Origin<\/a> jersey after a hat-trick against the Broncos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Billed as one of the matches of round nine, South Sydney recovered from the early sin-binning of skipper Cameron Murray<\/a> to run out commanding 32-6 winners at Suncorp Stadium.<\/p>\n

Graham scored three of the Rabbitohs' six tries, with Latrell Mitchell<\/a>Cody Walker<\/a> also hitting the scoreboard in a dominant showing against the NRL's ladder-leaders.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe 23-year-old scored two of his three tries in the first half before the hat-trick sealer prompted NRL legend Cameron Smith to argue for the would-be Blue's case.<\/p>\n

\"BRISBANE,<\/p>\n

"That may well have put him in a blue jumper," Smith said on Nine's NRL coverage after Graham crossed over for his third try in the 48th minute.<\/p>\n

Graham is eligible to be selected for Brad Fittler's New South Wales side and is a strong contender to be picked in the centre spot after registering eight tries in nine appearances so far this season.<\/p>\n

He has never made a State of Origin appearance.<\/p>\n

Smith and fellow Queensland great Paul 'Fatty' Vautin elaborated on Graham's Origin case after the Rabbitohs' win.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's got a big body and I love the angles that he runs," Vautin told Nine.<\/p>\n

\"BRISBANE,<\/p>\n

"Centres these days, they tend to run sideways a lot of them, he loves to run straight and that's a massive plus for any centre with his size.<\/p>\n

"It must be good for Brad Fittler, who's obviously watching this game tonight to see that he's got an actual centre that he can pick who is playing great footy in the centres.<\/p>\n

"He's had to make do with five-eighths and fullbacks and wingers, but I think he (Graham) picks himself."<\/p>\n

"He's playing in that position every week in the NRL, which is a high quality competition as we know. So he knows exactly what's needed from that position. If he gets picked in a Blues jersey, he'll do a fantastic job," Smith added.<\/p>\n

"I think his defence has certainly improved over the last 12-18 months as well.<\/p>\n

\"NRL<\/p>\n

"It's his double-threat with the ball. So when the ball gets kicked down deep into the Rabbitohs' territory, he's like another front-rower when he's carrying the ball off his own line, he loves those tough carries.<\/p>\n

"When he gets up the other end like he showed tonight, if he gets that opportunity to run into space … he beats his opposition defender nearly every time. He's just the whole package at the moment.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Following his hat-trick heroics, Graham admitted the clash against the Broncos was "a game that I wanted to get up for", but said \ufeffhe wasn't getting drawn into the Origin hype surrounding him.<\/p>\n

"I'm trying to block it out at the moment," he told Nine.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's all sort of background noise. I know the best thing I can do to earn myself an opportunity (to play Origin) is to play footy for Souths.<\/p>\n

\"Experts<\/p>\n

"I am trying to block that out at the moment and just focusing on week-to-week getting the result for Souths. If I just focus on doing my job, then that puts me in the best state for those kinds of selections.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

After a relatively even first half, the Rabbitohs scored four tries after the break, with Walker and Mitchell's second rubbing salt into the Broncos' wounds.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe result cuts Brisbane's lead at the top of the ladder to just two points, with both the Rabbitohs and Sharks hot on their heels.<\/p>\n

Brisbane's task gets no easier in round 10 with a tricky clash against the Sea Eagles on deck during the NRL's magic round, while the Rabbitohs will face the Storm.<\/p>\n
