Sharks<\/a> star Nicho Hynes<\/a> gave an emotional reminder to check in with your loved ones after winning the inaugural Paul Green<\/a> Medal.<\/p>\n

Following Green's death in August, the Sharks and Cowboys<\/a> announced the player-of-the-match in clashes between the two sides would be presented the medal by the winning coach.<\/p>\n

Green played for both clubs throughout his career, and later coached the Cowboys who he led to the 2015 premiership.<\/p>\n

AS IT HAPPENED:<\/strong> NRL Thursday, Sharks v Cowboys\ufeff<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Green was honoured before kick-off with a minute's applause. His wife Amanda and children Emerson and Jed were in the stands, as well as extended family and friends.<\/p>\n

Green was posthumously diagnosed with \ufeffchronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after he took his own life in August at the age of 49.<\/p>\n

The Sharks demolished the \ufeffCowboys 44-6 at Shark Park.<\/a><\/p>\n

"It is an absolute honour to be able to receive this award for the first time," Hynes said after being presented the award.<\/p>\n

"Paul Green was an integral part of this club, player No.290. To the family and all the friends who have played a part in Paul's life, thank you so much for coming down.<\/p>\n

\"Touching<\/p>\n

"It is a crazy feeling right now, because I know how much he means to everyone here. Thanks to our boys for putting in such a good performance.<\/p>\n

"Everyone, make sure we all check in on each other because you never know what is going on."<\/p>\n

Hynes scored 20 points – eight goals and a try – in yet another stellar performance.<\/p>\n
