Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis<\/a> had a heated exchange with Spanish rival Jaume Munar in a fiery post-match clash at the Madrid Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Munar won the first round match in two tight sets\ufeff 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-3) at the Masters 1000 event but took exception to what he perceived to be an insult during the match.<\/p>\n

Things threatened to boil over in the first set tiebreaker when Kokkinakis was left frustrated by Munar's constant dialogue with his coach's box.<\/p>\n

The Aussie player aired his concerns to the chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani, before Munar interjected.<\/p>\n

Kokkinakis then told Munar: "Bro, you don't shut up," before explaining to Lahyani: "I just thought it was rich for him to complain about talking because he's done the same thing the whole time."<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the match, both players shook hands at the net before Munar\ufeff told Kokkinakis "don't tell me to shut up again". The Aussie replied "Or what?" before the pair engaged in a lengthy conversation.<\/p>\n

It looked like things were about to get physical, with the chair umpire making his way to the court urging the players not to fight.<\/p>\n

But both Munar and Kokkinakis waved off the official, confirming they were just chatting civilly about the misunderstanding.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Spaniard has a much better record on clay and has won seven Challenger titles as well as six career wins over top 20 players on the surface.<\/p>\n

Kokkinakis, on the other hand, has just four career ATP clay court victories, with the clash being his first clay court match in 11 months.<\/p>\n
