J\ufeffofra Archer<\/a>'s run of injuries has continued after revelations he underwent surgery in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Archer, who made his Test debut in the 2019 Ashes series<\/a>, has consistently had problems with his elbow over the past two years.<\/p>\n

The fast bowler missed 12 months of cricket from May 2021, due to two operations and it appears those woes have continued.<\/p>\n

Archer was missing again for Mumbai Indians<\/a> on Tuesday (AEST) in the Indian Premier League<\/a> due to an apparent illness, having made a return for the side on last week after previously being out for four matches.<\/p>\n

His absence during those four games was originally described as a 'little niggle' by Mumbai coach Mark Boucher, however British masthead The Telegraph<\/em> revealed he had surgery on his right below in Belgium.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The surgery was his fifth in just over two years which previously ruled him out of the 2021-22 Ashes series which Australia won 4-0 at home.<\/p>\n

Archer's return at the weekend against Punjab Kings wasn't a success with the fast bowler taking 1-42 from four overs.<\/p>\n

England will hope to have the 28-year-old at full fitness for the upcoming Ashes series, with Archer's debut 2019 series seeing him take 22 wickets \ufeffalong with hitting Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne on the helmet with blistering pace.<\/p>\n
