Wallabies gun Marika Koroibete believes elements of his game can \ufeffstill go to "another level" after winning his second John Eales Medal on Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n

Koroibete, 30, was so dominant in 2022 that his teammates judged him Australia's best for the season despite missing the spring tour of Europe.<\/p>\n

The Panasonic Wild Knights winger is hoping \ufeffto win another title in Japan this year before rejoining the Wallabies for The Rugby Championship.<\/p>\n

"There's always improvements," Koroibete told reporters, while adding he was "a bit surprised" at the latest award.<\/p>\n

"So in the TRC I want my repeat speed to be on another level.<\/p>\n

"It's been a bit inconsistent over here in Japan and last year. That's something I want to work really hard with, my repeat speed going to camp."<\/p>\n

Koroibete said he was still happy enough with his top speed when sprinting \ufeffbut joked he was "probably getting older" and was "not as quick as before."<\/p>\n

Koroibete was one of the overseas-based contingent that joined components of Eddie Jones' first Wallabies camp \ufeffvia Zoom last week.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe ultimate goal is he just wants to win the World Cup," Koroibete said.<\/p>\n

"That's one of the things that he said… you want to prove yourself as one of the best in the world as well. That's the mentality coming into this level."<\/p>\n

Koroibete said he had been keeping an eye on Super Rugby Pacific from Japan and had been impressed with the form of fellow Wallabies wingers Andrew Kellaway, Jordan Petaia and Tom Wright.<\/p>\n

"It's a good problem, you know, to have everyone getting fit and everyone on their best form. It'll get the best out of each other at training and everyone competing for the spot… and better for the team as well."<\/p>\n

It's the second time Koroibete has won the prestigious award, having claimed previously the scalp in 2019.<\/p>\n

The Fiji-born star earned 202 votes to easily beat Rob Valetini (170) and Allan Alaalatoa (168).<\/p>\n

He said he wasn't bothered by the strangely low key nature of \ufeffthis year's awards – with no ceremony night – as he spoke to a selection of journalists via Zoom.<\/p>\n

"I don't mind at all, you know. it's a bit hard this year, you know, last year, COVID-wise and, a lot of travelling, I didn't go to the spring tour," he said.<\/p>\n

"Everyone is everywhere, I don't mind at all… it was great to be recognised by my teammates. I always want to to be make the country proud."<\/p>\n
