A\ufefftlanta Hawks<\/a> guard Dejounte Murray has found himself in hot water after appearing to bump a referee at the end of his team's loss to the Boston Celtics<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Hawks went down 129-121 at home to the Celtics, who took a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven NBA playoff<\/a> series with the win.<\/p>\n

Following the final buzzer, a video from the stands showed Murray appearing to make contact with referee Gediminas Petraitis as he walked off the floor.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAccording to ESPN, the NBA is investigating the incident, with a decision typically made prior to the following game in the series. The Hawks and Celtics will meet again for game five in Boston on Wednesday morning AEST.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear whether Murray will receive a suspension for the apparent bump, although the league suspended Celtics forward Grant Williams for one game after a similar incident in October\ufeff.<\/p>\n

Murray has been one of Atlanta's shining lights through the first four games of the series, averaging 25.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBoston never trailed after grabbing a 4-3 lead on Derrick White's basket just over a minute into the game.<\/p>\n

Celtics star Jayson Tatum delivered a huge three-pointer off a loose ball with two minutes remaining, pushing the Celtics to a 118-106 lead.<\/p>\n

After Trae Young swished a long three to provide Atlanta's last gasp, Jaylen Brown knocked one down from beyond the arc to seal it for the Celtics.<\/p>\n

Young had another big game for Atlanta with 35 points and 15 assists, but it wasn't enough. De'Andre Hunter chipped in with 27 while Murray had 23.<\/p>\n

"They came out with a sense of urgency, and it showed," Young said. "They're a really good team. They're here for a reason."<\/p>\n

Hunter ripped off eight straight points, including a couple of threes, and then delivered a thunderous dunk that brought the Hawks within four points at 53-49.<\/p>\n

But Boston closed the first half on a 12-4 spurt, capped by Marcus Smart's three-pointer that sent the visitors to the locker room with a 65-53 lead and sapped a lot of energy from the home crowd.<\/p>\n

Smart was in the Celtics' lineup and looked just fine after a hard fall near the end of game three.<\/p>\n

He landed on his tailbone while battling for a rebound, prompting Boston to list him as a game-time decision. But coach Joe Mazzulla declared his guard "good to go" well ahead of tipoff.<\/p>\n

"The back locked up a few times, but I got through it OK," Smart said.<\/p>\n
