\ufeffBrisbane Lions<\/a> star Charlie Cameron<\/a> has kicked one of the goals of the year after a moment described as "football genius" against the GWS Giants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The play came late in the first quarter when Cameron's teammate Jack Gunston centred a ball towards the top of the goalsquare where Cameron was being marked by Giants defender Isaac Cumming.<\/p>\n

As the ball bounced towards Cameron, he leaped in the air and angled his foot to deflect the ball towards the open goal reminiscent of a finish from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.<\/p>\n

After a lengthy review, replays showed Cameron had gotten his foot to the ball cleanly, leaving AFL greats Garry Lyon and Jordan Lewis stunned.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHe just let it roll onto his foot. He accepted that the ball had momentum and all he needed was to get a touch, and he just let it roll off his foot," Lyon said on Fox Footy's coverage.<\/p>\n

"I reckon he meant it, and if he did, it's genius. That is unbelievable. His head spun straight away, he knew where it was going. That is football genius.<\/p>\n

"There is an element of skill involved in this that is a little bit off the charts. I think we've seen enough from Charlie over the years that suggests he knew what he was doing.<\/p>\n

Lewis, too, was convinced that the play was deliberate from Cameron.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I think if it was anyone else you'd have question marks," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIf you look at his foot, his toes are up and he sees that the ball isn't bouncing up to his hand, so he puts his toe down and tries to get a little deflection through.<\/p>\n

"When he jumped, he may have thought the ball was going to bounce higher, he realised that it wasn't late, so he flattened his foot out."<\/p>\n
