LIV Golf<\/a> CEO Greg Norman<\/a> has flagged a possible women's league as an extension of the Saudi-backed breakaway tour.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of LIV Golf's inaugural Australian event<\/a> at the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide, Norman argued all growth was under the heel of the premier organisation, the PGA Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"It's (the PGA Tour's) choice of what they want to do," he said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"If they want to keep putting up roadblocks – we're not going to go anywhere.<\/p>\n

"We have got a product, we have got investment dollars there today, investment dollars into the future.<\/p>\n

"We have tried with the PGA Tour consistently with zero, zilch, nothing [in response].<\/p>\n

"That's their choice. If that's your decision, fine, we're OK with that. So we'll just keep going and doing what we're doing."<\/p>\n

Norman claimed many contracted LPGA players and Ladies European Tour players had approached him about establishing a women's LIV league.<\/p>\n

"They love what our product is showcasing, they ask all the time, 'How can we get involved, we'd like to see a LIV ladies series'," he said.<\/p>\n

"Yes, we talk about it internally. And I have had discussions with individual lady players."<\/p>\n

However, a \ufeffpotential barrier that could trouble the formation of a women's league is LIV's financing by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.<\/p>\n

The nation's treatment \ufeffof women continues to be criticised with a male guardianship system in place.<\/p>\n

Under this social construct, \ufeffall Saudi women are bound by law to a male guardian who has authority over decision-making.<\/p>\n

Norman insisted he had never discussed Saudi Arabia's human rights record with superiors within the fund or country.<\/p>\n

"I am the chairman and CEO of LIV Golf Investments and that's where I focus, I focus on golf, I stay focused on golf," Norman said.<\/p>\n

"My job is to build out LIV and the product we have on a global front … that's my job.<\/p>\n

"I've been involved with golf as a player as well as golf course design – I have built some golf courses in third-world countries, and I have built golf courses in communist countries.<\/p>\n

"Golf is a force for good. It goes everywhere with the right platform."<\/p>\n
