One player told the Courier Mail<\/em> the woman said "he is going to kill me" before Lodge and Te'o protected her in their car and drove her home.<\/p>\n It's understood the duo informed teammates via their team WhatsApp group, with a group of players including last year's captain Alex Glenn, arriving at the women's house.<\/p>\n Riki, who played five games for the Broncos in his debut season last year, performed a citizen's arrest by tackling the man and detaining him until police arrived.<\/p>\n "They did intervene in an incident in Maroochydore after witnessing an event on the side of the road," Sunshine Coast District Police superintendent Craig Hawkins.<\/p>\n "They saw a woman in distress and intervened. Police were called and took action in regards to a domestic violence incident."<\/p>\n Former police officer and current CEO of the Broncos, Paul White, praised his playing group for their actions.<\/p>\n "They acted instinctively, they didn't have an opportunity to contemplate," he said.<\/p>\n "They saw a woman in distress and went to assist her. They rang police and by the time they arrived, some of the other teammates had arrived and restrained the man.<\/p>\n "The players did what was right.
