A\ufeff sprint sensation from Queensland has broken a national 200-metre record and affirmed his status as a potential future Olympic<\/a> superstar.<\/p>\n

Gout Gout, 15, \ufeffblitzed the field at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Brisbane even though he was much younger than most of the competitors.<\/p>\n

The Ipswich teen clocked 20.87 seconds in the under 18s race\ufeff, shaving a remarkable 0.03 seconds off the record and breaking the elusive 21-second barrier.<\/p>\n

Darren Clark, Paul Greene, and Zane Branco had held the Australian under 18s record jointly before Saturday.<\/p>\n

They were all at least a year older than Gout was when they ran the time. Gout only turned 15 in December.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"It means a lot because I've been training so much for this," Gout said after the win on Saturday.<\/p>\n

"I was really nervous. The gun went, and I was good and I just kept pushing.<\/p>\n

"It's like you can't feel any ground contact, it feels like you are floating.<\/p>\n

"This season has been mind blowing for me. Last year I came fourth and sixth at nationals, and then I came out at All Schools and won. I was really motivated because I took last year personally, it always feels better when you are winning."<\/p>\n

Gout also holds the Australian records at under 16s level in the 100m and 200m. His under 16s 200m record is 21.14 seconds.<\/p>\n

\ufeffOn Sunday he will contest the under 18s 100m race. His under 16s record at that distance is 10.57s.<\/p>\n

The under 18s 100m record is 10.25s, run by \ufeffSebastian Sultana last year.<\/p>\n
