The AFL<\/a> world was left asking questions\ufeff after Swans defender Jake Lloyd was denied a a goal after the ball appeared to make contact with loose padding on an Adelaide Oval goalpost.<\/p>\n

Lloyd fired a shot at goal from outside the 50m arc and it looked to be a sweet shot that sailed through posts, with Swans players celebrating after the ball had past the goal line.<\/p>\n

The goal umpire immediately called for a score review as the ball came close to the post. The replay showed showed the ball had brushed advertising padding that was around the goalpost, leading to a Sydney behind.<\/p>\n

At half-time officials came out and tightened the padding on the post, although the denied goal did not matter in the end as the Swans ran out comprehensive 44-point winners.<\/p>\n

However, it did have commentators questioning the decision.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's hit that bit of material there \u2026 Looks like it's hanging loose from the padding, doesn't it?" Brian Taylor said on Seven.<\/p>\n

"That's the advertising part they wrap around the foam. It looks like it's come loose at the top.<\/p>\n

"Jake Lloyd will not be happy."<\/p>\n

James Brayshaw added: "It's not properly attached \u2026 and if it was properly attached, it (the ball) probably wouldn't have hit it."<\/p>\n

Swans coach John Longmire said he couldn't believe what took place.<\/p>\n

"I didn't even know what happened to be honest until someone told me on the way in (to the press conference) \u2026 Extraordinary," he told reporters.<\/p>\n
