I looked it up, and yep, it's there in black and white. To stop the misuse of the word 'Anzac', a set of regulations was put in place to ensure this important word is treated with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n It's important to remember those words — respect and dignity.<\/p>\n These regulations are the responsibility of the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and, Veterans' Affairs administers applications for permits to use the word 'Anzac'.<\/p>\n The regulations apply if you intend to use the word 'Anzac' in connection with any commercial use, entertainment, profession, lottery, art union, or as names in specified circumstances such as the purpose of selling or producing goods.<\/p>\n Stream the NRL premiership 2023 live and free on<\/strong><\/em> 9Now<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n In other words, rugby league clubs trying to sell Anzac jerseys.<\/p>\n So, my question to you is this: is there any need for sporting clubs to design their own commemorative jerseys? Given they can't even source the correct photos — where's the respect and dignity?<\/p>\n What's wrong with their traditional playing strip, just like the official uniforms worn by our servicemen and women when they were fighting for the freedoms we enjoy today.<\/p>\n Do you see where I'm coming from?<\/p>\n I actually posted something on social media last week after breaking the story involving the Wests Tigers jumper<\/a> — I wrote "if you expect fans to pay $160 for a commemorative jersey, you need to do better than a Google image search of 'soldier in desert'.<\/p>\n https:\/\/twitter.com\/marklevy2gb\/status\/1643191685432868871?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw<\/a> Now, I understand sporting clubs are running a business and they need to make money, but I've got a real problem with the number of jerseys they release each year.<\/p>\n I think it's unfair on the supporters who pay their hard earned money for memberships.<\/p>\n Think about it for a second — they've got home-and-away jerseys, an Indigenous jumper, a commemorative jumper, a women in league jumper — the list goes on.<\/p>\n Are they making money or taking their supporters for a ride?<\/p>\n Owning and wearing your team's jersey with pride is one of the joys of going to the footy.<\/p>\n However, you'd need to take out a mortgage to keep up with the number of jumpers being released every year by these football clubs.<\/p>\n We're supposed to be a blue-collar game.
