Geelong<\/a> star Jeremy Cameron<\/a> has miraculously avoided an injury after a brutal inadvertent collision with a field umpire while celebrating a goal.<\/p>\n

Cameron continued his outstanding start to the season by booting seven goals to go along with 22 disposals as the Cats \ufeffran 19. 13. (127) to 6. 9. (45) winners<\/a> over Hawthorn at the MCG.<\/p>\n

However, it was the final goal of Cameron's monster haul that briefly sent shivers through Cats fans' spines.<\/p>\n

The left footer took a mark running with the flight of the ball and ran in on goal and continued running after kicking the ball in celebration, only to run straight into a nearby boundary umpire.<\/p>\n

The pair both collapsed to the floor before Cameron dusted himself off and came off the ground, with the umpire also emerging unscathed from the brutal collision.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI\ufeff just remember celebrating and then I actually thought I ran into the fence," Cameron told Fox Footy after the match.<\/p>\n

"I had no idea what happened and then when I went down it was the umpire and I was shocked, so hopefully he's OK."<\/p>\n

It was an incident that\ufeff Hawthorn great Jason Dunstall said could've ended up "a genuine tragedy if one or both suffered serious injuries".<\/p>\n

Coming into the match as the only winless defending premiers through three rounds since 1976, the Cats were blitzed in the opening stages, as Hawthorn kicked the first three majors of the afternoon.<\/p>\n

While Geelong steadied in the second quarter, it still went into the main break facing a nine-point deficit.<\/p>\n

However, the match turned in spectacular fashion in the third quarter, with the young Hawks having no answer to a ruthless Geelong onslaught.<\/p>\n

\ufeffGeelong scored a remarkable 72 consecutive points before Hawthorn's first score of the second half, a rushed behind at the six-minute mark of the final quarter, broke the incredible run of scores.<\/p>\n

Hawthorn eventually wound up being outscored 100-9 in an incredible second half.<\/p>\n

\ufeffGeelong will look to make it two from two next week when it faces the Eagles, while Hawthorn will face the Giants, with both matches taking place in South Australia as a part of the AFL's Gather Round.<\/p>\n
