Karachi: Central Punjab outclassed Sindh in the first semi-final of the Pakistan Cup, defeating them by 127 runs\u00a0at the State Bank Stadium on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sindh were bowled out for 212 in 36.5 overs as they were due to chasing a 340-run target. Central Punjab will now wait for yesterday’s knockout fixture between Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to confirm their opponent for the all-important final on February 1.<\/p>\n

Sindh started horrendously as they suffered two run-outs in the start and failed to gain momentum in the chase. Omair Bin Yousuf was the first to go while wicketkeeper Mohammad Hasan was another.<\/p>\n

Khurram Manzoor was involved in both run-outs, however, he finished\u00a0as the top scorer with an impressive 88 off 73 balls with 12 fours\u00a0while Saad Ali contributed 54 off 55 balls with five fours and six.<\/p>\n

Mohammad Ali was the pick of bowlers with three for 31, while Ahmed Bashir and Usman Qadir bagged two wickets apiece at 40 and 50 runs, respectively for Central Punjab.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Central Punjab started positively after they were put into bat by Sindh’s captain Asad Shafiq. Openers\u00a0Tayyab Tahir and Rizwan Hussain post\u00a0a solid 87-run first-wicket partnership, allowing CP to finish at 339 for nine.<\/p>\n

Tayyab scored 60 from 70 balls which included six fours and a six. Rizwan smacked 29-ball 56, powered by\u00a0five sixes and four fours.<\/p>\n

All-rounder Zafar Gohar struck half-century later which included three sixes and three fours while captain Saad Nasim (39) and Raza Ali Dar (37) made useful contributions.<\/p>\n

For Sindh, Hassan Khan, Mohammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dhani took two wickets apiece, conceding 42, 49 and 59 runs, respectively.<\/p>\n

CP’s vice-captain Zafar was awarded player of the match for his fifty and economical seven-over spell, conceding\u00a01\/38.<\/p>\n
