{"id":284368,"date":"2023-04-09T05:33:51","date_gmt":"2023-04-09T05:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=284368"},"modified":"2023-04-09T13:59:39","modified_gmt":"2023-04-09T13:59:39","slug":"heartbreaking-end-for-completely-cooked-ambrose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=284368","title":{"rendered":"Heartbreaking end for &#039;completely cooked&#039; Ambrose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fairytale return to racing has come to a premature end at the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/speedseries\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Bathurst 6 Hour\">Bathurst 6 Hour<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/marcos-ambrose\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Marcos Ambrose\">Marcos Ambrose<\/a>, whose car cried no more.<\/p>\n<p>The two-time <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/supercars-championship\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Supercars\">Supercars<\/a> champion and his team had tried to achieve a lofty goal, entering the only automatic car in the endurance race.<\/p>\n<p>However, just over two hours into the race, Ambrose pulled the bright yellow Ford Mustang into the pit lane where it would finish the race.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 Bathurst 6 Hour.<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/9.nine.com.au\/DnH61N\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>All the action streaming ad-free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Joined by George Miedecke and Trans Am regular Tim Brook, the trio had been class contenders.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"e99ae46c-25d2-40de-848d-8bb44b310d1b\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/e99ae46c-25d2-40de-848d-8bb44b310d1b\" alt=\"The broken Ford Mustang driven by Marcos Ambrose.\" data-width=\"1920\" data-height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;We&#x27;re completely cooked,&quot; Ambrose told Stan Sport&#x27;s Chris Stubbs.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We&#x27;re done. Everything, strategy was good.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The old man was double stinting, it was all working out and bang, it started slipping, the clutch plates inside the gearbox and it was done.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was immediate, straight off turn one. It was slipping in every gear.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SpeedSeriesAU\/status\/1644914330482376705\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\" data-show-caption=\"false\" data-conversation=\"none\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/SpeedSeriesAU\/status\/1644914330482376705<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year&#x27;s Bathurst 6 Hour marked the first time since 2015 that Ambrose had competed at Mount Panorama.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His last outing in Supercars was at the Gold Coast 600 and before that the Bathurst 1000 with Scott Pye and the then-known DJR Team Penske.<\/p>\n<p>It was a brutal end to Ambrose&#x27;s return, having led the class at the time of their downfall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We&#x27;re running A2 class, we were leading our class and then we were leading outright,&quot; said Ambrose.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"d5d4e094-6ace-4027-ad4f-76d7893da6c2\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/d5d4e094-6ace-4027-ad4f-76d7893da6c2\" alt=\"Marcos Ambrose had led the Bathurst 6 Hour until his car expired.\" data-width=\"1818\" data-height=\"1212\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;I started looking at these BMWs and they are rockets down the straightaway. It&#x27;s got to be 20 lengths down Conrod. It was just incredible.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We were hustling really hard across the top. We had a lot of speed there, the balance was beautiful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Mustang was handling great across the top.
