T\ufeffhe Newcastle Knights<\/a> have held off a gallant effort from the Warriors<\/a> to secure a 34-24 victory at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

While the win catapulted the Knights\ufeff into the competition's top eight, it was soured by a knee injury to captain Jayden Brailey.<\/p>\n

The \ufeffdummy-half limped off the\ufeff field in the 61st minute with concerns of a meniscus injury.<\/p>\n

Both sides suffered an injury toll as the Warriors' Te Maire Martin<\/a> and Wayde Egan were withdrawn from the match hurt.<\/p>\n

Martin is facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines after suffering a suspected fractured fibula.<\/p>\n

Stand-in captain Egan was subbed out of the match after suffering a concussion in a nasty head clash.<\/p>\n

Knights winger Dominic Young scored the opening try in the sixth minute – powering over in the right corner to score<\/p>\n

With his strength on full display, he dragged two Warriors players over the tryline in the process.<\/p>\n

Young then initiated a length-of-the-field try as the Knights got a run-on upfield. The sequence finished with Greg Marzhew scoring in the corner.<\/p>\n

The Warriors responded with a try in the 24th minute as Shaun Johnson handed off a short ball to Adam Pompey.<\/p>\n

Knights second-rower Tyson Frizell then gobbled up a loose ball from a bomb and barged over the tryline.<\/p>\n

Warriors fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad had his try overruled after the Bunker determined Pompey has obstructed Jackson Hastings.<\/p>\n

Moments later, the ball moved straight down the other end for Phoenix Crossland to score off a Bradman Best grubber.<\/p>\n

As the Knights appeared to stall in the second half, Pompey stormed over to complete his double before setting up Edward Kosi to score in the corner.<\/p>\n

As the Knights lost Brailey\ufeff to injury, Kurt Mann came from the bench and made an immediate impact on the scoreboard.<\/p>\n

Jackson Ford hit back for the Warriors in the 74th minute but his side's efforts fell short as the Knights hung on at home.<\/p>\n
