{"id":283779,"date":"2023-04-06T03:00:31","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T03:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=283779"},"modified":"2023-04-06T15:01:32","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T15:01:32","slug":"bathursts-win-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-era-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=283779","title":{"rendered":"Bathurst&#039;s win on Sunday, sell on Monday era returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/speedseries\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Bathurst 6 Hour\">Bathurst 6 Hour<\/a> is set to revive an iconic era at <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/mount-panorama\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Mount Panorama\">Mount Panorama<\/a> which two-time <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/bathurst-1000\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Bathurst 1000\">Bathurst 1000<\/a> winner <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/will-davison\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Will Davison\">Will Davison<\/a> says is what motor racing &quot;was built upon.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The Mountain hosts three endurance-based events annually \u2013 the most iconic Bathurst 1000, the GT-based Bathurst 12 Hour, and the production car-focused Bathurst 6 Hour.<\/p>\n<p>The last of those, which takes place on April 7-9 across Easter weekend, is the newest endurance race of the three.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 SpeedSeries.<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/9.nine.com.au\/DnH61N\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>All the action streaming ad-free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the late 2000s, the Bathurst 12 Hour was largely production car-based. A shift towards GT3-led regulations meant production cars needed a new event. So, in 2016, the Bathurst 6 Hour was born.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"0b4ef81f-29fd-4983-bd01-2a4ec445cfb0\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/0b4ef81f-29fd-4983-bd01-2a4ec445cfb0\" alt=\"The start of the 2022 Bathurst 6 Hour at Mount Panorama.\" data-width=\"3216\" data-height=\"2144\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now in its seventh year, the race continues to attract big-name drivers. This year&#x27;s event is headlined by two-time Supercars champion Marcos Ambrose who will make his first competitive start at Mount Panorama since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Other big-name drivers include Supercars race winners Will Brown and Anton De Pasquale as well as Sandown 500 podium finisher Thomas Randle.<\/p>\n<p>Among the stars is Will Davison, who will be an outright contender for the win in a BMW M3 in only his second Bathurst 6 Hour start.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There&#x27;s certainly a place for it in motorsport because it&#x27;s certainly what car racing was built upon,&quot; Davison told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"8ff91ff9-5b3e-4045-ab7d-44e1dbc0f237\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/8ff91ff9-5b3e-4045-ab7d-44e1dbc0f237\" alt=\"The BMW M4 that Will Davison drove in the 2022 Bathurst 6 Hour.\" data-width=\"3649\" data-height=\"2433\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;There is such a huge variance in cars out there and classes and driving standards and I can&#x27;t compare it to anything else I do. I go there very open-minded and just enjoy it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Motorsport has moved on a long way. It&#x27;s longer pit stops. The tyre we use is a very unique tyre, very hard, very durable. So we&#x27;re not really needing to change tyres every pit stop.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We know road cars these days are littered with program sensors and overriding sensors that interfere with the performance, so it goes against what we&#x27;re trying to achieve in the car.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&quot;You are able to do it just, it takes something quite different. The two-time Supercars champion will join George Miedecke and Tim Brook in a Class A2 Ford Mustang GT (No.95).<\/p>\n<p>Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Will Davison will contend for outright honours in Class X behind the wheel of the No.23 BMW M4 with Beric Lynton and Tim Leahey.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"9ae85e9d-1664-43b5-a3e3-cb5a38a5b207\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/9ae85e9d-1664-43b5-a3e3-cb5a38a5b207\" alt=\"Marcos Ambrose last raced in Supercars in 2015.\" data-width=\"4547\" data-height=\"3032\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Davison&#x27;s Supercars teammate Anton De Pasquale is another outright contender in the No.4 BMW M4 with Anthony Soole and Adam Burgess.<\/p>\n<p>Bathurst 1000 podium finisher and TCR Australia Series winner Tony D&#x27;Alberto will join Duane West in the #90 HSV GTS.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"2a459125-89c5-41c9-b65f-fd0f062c3996\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/2a459125-89c5-41c9-b65f-fd0f062c3996\" alt=\"John Bowe will race a Ford Falcon.\" data-width=\"5000\" data-height=\"3333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sandown 500 podium finisher Thomas Randle will pilot the #92 BMW M2 with Ben Kavich and Michael Kavich.<\/p>\n<p>Supercars winner John Bowe will be a Class A1 contender in a Ford Falcon alongside Aaron McGill in the No.33 entry.<\/p>\n<p>Two-time Bathurst 1000 podium finisher Steve Owen is another notable entry in Class A2 in the No.48 Lexus RC F with Scott Gore and Keith Bensley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BATHURST 6 HOUR RULES AND CLASSES EXPLAINED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each entry is allowed up to three drivers, only one of which can be rated as a professional.<\/p>\n<p>No driver can complete more than three-and-a-half hours of the race, or face big penalties if they exceed their maximum driving time. The maximum continuous driving time allowed is three hours.<\/p>\n<p>Compulsory Pit Stops (CPS) must be completed throughout the race. Class X cars must complete six, Class A1, A2 and B1 must complete four, and all other classes must complete three.<\/p>\n<p>Only one CPS can be served during a safety car intervention, otherwise, they must be served under green flag conditions.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"cab0780c-0f38-4764-89d0-0e396c090b9c\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/cab0780c-0f38-4764-89d0-0e396c090b9c\" alt=\"A trio of Class X BMW racers.\" data-width=\"5000\" data-height=\"3333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cars are split up by classes, rated from fastest to slowest. Class X is for the fastest cars around Mount Panorama and is cost-capped at $140,000.<\/p>\n<p>Class A1 is for cars slightly slower than Class X that are turbocharged or supercharged while Class A2 is for naturally aspirated cars. Here, you&#x27;ll find the Mitsubishi Lancer, Mercedes A45, Ford Mustang, and HSV GTS.<\/p>\n<p>Class B1 and B2 are for forced induction and naturally aspirated cars that aren&#x27;t quite as quick as Class A entries.
