B\ufeffrisbane<\/a> is poised to make Payne Haas<\/a> the best-paid player in the club's history.<\/p>\n

That's according to journalist Ben Dobbin, who broke the news on Triple M's The Rush Hour on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHaas, 23, is already earning in excess of $850,000 this year from the Broncos, but his management is negotiating an upgrade and extension that will net the hulking prop much more.<\/p>\n

"Well over a million dollars (a year), and I think as long as they can get him. I think another three years," Dobbin said on radio.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAnthony Milford became the first million-dollar player in Broncos history before he left the club in 2021.<\/p>\n

\"Payne<\/p>\n

But Dobbin says the Haas deal is set to blow Milford's money benchmark out of the water.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"It's in the making and it's not over the line yet… (but) I believe Payne Haas with be a Bronco for many, many years to come," Dobbin said.<\/p>\n

"His management and the Broncos are well down the track on an extension on his contract.<\/p>\n

"It's a long-term deal and it would make him the richest player in the history of the Broncos. Payne Haas will surpass (Milford) by plenty.<\/p>\n

"He is so significant to the Broncos now because they've lost (Thomas) Flegler."<\/p>\n

Flegler is with the Broncos this season but will depart at the year's end to join the Dolphins, leaving Brisbane short an Origin-quality middle forward.<\/p>\n

Haas is considered by many \ufeffto be the best prop in the NRL.<\/p>\n

This contract news comes only a year after Haas was booed by Brisbane fans after it was revealed his management requested a release.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Broncos have spent three years outside NRL finals but are on the bounceback, and have won all five games to start the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

They are now \ufeffrated a $6.50 chance to win this year's premiership, behind only the Panthers and the Roosters.<\/p>\n
