Australia's summer of cricket has been thrown into disarray after David Warner suffered an apparent groin injury while attempting to field in the second ODI.<\/p>\n
After a brilliant 77-ball 83 with the bat, Warner's night came to an end early on in India's innings when he attempted to field an on driver from Indian opener Mayank Agarwal.<\/p>\n
Warner dived to his left and appeared to strain his right groin and immediately limped off the field in the hands of the trainers.<\/p>\n
Former Australian speedster Brett Lee suggested that Warner could have potentially ripped his groin "off the bone" due to his immediate reaction to the injury.<\/p>\n
However, the full extent of Warner's injury is still to be determined, with the 34-year-old was soon driven to hospital to get scans during India's innings.<\/p>\n

Warner's injury all but rules him out of the remainder of Australia's limited-overs hitouts against India, the third ODI and the three Twenty20 fixtures.<\/p>\n
The veteran faces a race against time to be fit for the Test opener in Adelaide on December 17.<\/p>\n
Warner's injury comes at a time where the main discussion in the lead-up to the India tour has been who his opening partner will be for the first Test.<\/p>\n
The race to be Warner's opening partner appeared to have been narrowed down to young gun Will Pucovski and the incumbent Joe Burns.<\/p>\n
Now in a cruel twist of fate, the pair could both be opening with Warner sitting on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Australia's selectors were criticised for seeking Warner's opinion on who should be his Test partner in recent weeks, and Test great Shane Warne fired a cheeky shot after his injury.<\/p>\n
"Maybe they'll interview Will Pucovski and say, 'Who do you want to bat with?'," Warne said on commentary for Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n
Australia's more immediate concern will be who replaces Warner for the T20 series, and Warne suggested that wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey could be shuffled up the order.<\/p>\n
