Eight-time Australian rowing<\/a> national champion Georgia Nesbitt has been hospitalised after suffering serious injuries during a cycling event, Rowing Australia has confirmed.<\/p>\n

Nesbitt, 30, suffered her injuries during a criterium race in Tasmania before being transported to hospital from the event and has been placed in an induced coma.<\/p>\n

Rowing Australia Chief Executive Ian Robson said the rowing community is rallying around Nesbitt and her family.<\/p>\n

"Georgia is one of the most-respected athletes in Australian rowing. The entire rowing family and wider sports community is thinking of Georgia and her family in the wake of this serious accident," Robson said.<\/p>\n

Nesbitt represented Australia ten times, including a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships.<\/p>\n

She was recently appointed to the board of Rowing Tasmania.<\/p>\n
