The C\ufeffowboys<\/a> will likely need to find a stand-in fullback for round three, with Scott Drinkwater surely facing several weeks on the sideline for a nasty clash that broke the jaw of Broncos<\/a> winger Corey Oates<\/a> as Brisbane beat North Queensland 28-16.<\/p>\n

With the score locked at 10-all shortly after half-time, Oates was surging towards the line when he was tackled by Drinkwater and skipper Chad Townsend<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Oates wasn't able to ground the ball, and immediately came to his feet clutching his jaw. Replays showed Drinkwater made little if any wrapping motion – his shoulder connected flush with Oates' jaw.<\/p>\n

"His Broncos teammates come over to celebrate and straight away he signaled no, he has pointed to the right side of his face," Cameron Smith said in commentary for Nine.<\/p>\n

With Drinkwater off the park, the Broncos scored twice through Kotoni Staggs and Ezra Mam to take a 10-point lead.<\/p>\n

A Jeremiah Nanai four-pointer kept the Cowboys in touch, before Reece Walsh's first try as a Bronco sealed the deal.<\/p>\n

The 28-16 win sees the Broncos \ufeffremain undefeated after their first two games.<\/p>\n
