N\ufefforth Melbourne<\/a> midfielder Tarryn Thomas<\/a> will return to training next week after taking leave from the club<\/a> following allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, \ufeffThomas faced court<\/a> over allegations he violated a court order.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old was charged in January with threatening to distribute an intimate image<\/a> and was also stopped by police for allegedly driving with a suspended licence over the Christmas break.<\/p>\n

Despite returning to Arden Street on Monday, Thomas will remain unavailable for selection for any match simulations until he completes a respectful behaviour program issued by the club.<\/p>\n

North Melbourne chief executive Jennifer Watt said club leaders felt Thomas should return to training after meeting with him.<\/p>\n

"The club's strong position with Tarryn has been for him to focus on the program that supports behaviour change along with ensuring accountability and for Tarryn to take responsibility for his actions," she said in a club statement.<\/p>\n

"Disrespect towards women is completely unacceptable and its impacts can be far-reaching.<\/p>\n

"We wanted to see a genuine commitment from Tarryn to address the behaviours that have led to the serious allegations made against him in recent months and we've seen that.<\/p>\n

"Given his commitment to the program and the remorse we've seen from him, we think it's time to bring Tarryn back to the structure of the club environment.<\/p>\n

\"Tarryn<\/p>\n

"We won't put a timeframe on his return to play and we'll continue to prioritise him completing his respectful behaviour program."<\/p>\n

In the statement, Thomas also acknowledged the efforts it would take to win back the respect of his teammates and coaches, as well as the club's supporters and staff and the wider AFL community.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I've learnt a lot about myself over the past few weeks," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm working hard to improve my behaviour and language towards women and the programs I'm completing have really helped me.<\/p>\n

"The club and my teammates have continued to support me and I hope to repay them, the club and our fans on my return.<\/p>\n

"I'm still working through some legal issues and I'll have more to say once they are behind me."<\/p>\n

Thomas will next appear in court on March 2.<\/p>\n
