It's understood Federer, who will turn 40 in August, is aiming to make his comeback in the tournaments proceeding the Australian Open. The Swiss maestro hasn't played in a Grand Slam match since his semi-final loss to Novak Djokovic at Melbourne Park at the start of 2020.<\/p>\n
When asked if whether Federer could once again take to the court, Courier said he had no doubts the 20-time Grand Slam winner could find his form again with the racquet.<\/p>\n

"It's all going to come down to where his knee is at after having two surgeries on it last year," Courier told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.<\/em><\/p>\n "Is his movement going to allow him the freedom to play the tennis that the loves and that he's been so incredible at? <\/p>\n "I truly believe his racquet skills won't go anywhere in spite of not playing a tournament since last year's Australian Open.<\/p>\n "I think he's looking to get back some time in the indoors or possibly in Dubai, not too far from now.<\/p>\n "He just wasn't quite ready to go here in Australia."<\/p>\n However, Courier conceded if Federer's movement is "limited" following his multiple knee operations, it could trouble the Swiss start on the defensive side, which would likely force a different playing style.<\/p>\n "It's all going to boil down to his movement," he added.<\/p>\n "If he can move, he will be able to play at a high level.<\/p>\n "If his movement is limited, he may have to go out blasting and try blast people off the court to prevent him from playing defence.<\/p>\n "I hope he will get a fair shot at playing.
