The TCR Australia Series<\/a> will have its first full-time international driver in 2023 with the arrival of Tom Oliphant.<\/p>\n

The former factory-backed BMW driver spent four full seasons in the British Touring Car Championship, widely regarded as one of the toughest touring car categories in the world.<\/p>\n

Now, Cheshire-born Oliphant has headed Down Under to live in Wollongong with his Australian wife.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 SpeedSeries.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad-free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

He'll continue his racing career, driving an Ashley Seward Motorsport-run Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce.<\/p>\n

\"Team<\/p>\n

Oliphant has signed a two-year deal with the team, which will start at the SpeedSeries<\/a> season-opening Race Tasmania event at Symmons Plains on February 24-26.<\/p>\n

"I'm absolutely over the moon to announce I'm Down Under and I'll be racing in the TCR Australia Series," said Oliphant, who comes to the Australian series with two BTCC race wins and 10 podium finishes.<\/p>\n

"It's been a dream of mine to race in Australia and I'll finally get to live it out in 2023.<\/p>\n

"TCR Australia is obviously a very, very competitive category with drivers such as Will Brown making a career in the class and it will be great to be competing against them.<\/p>\n

"I see it as a real challenge and I'm looking forward to every moment.<\/p>\n

"I'm very proud to be joining Ashley Seward Motorsport. The team do an incredible job and I was impressed when I met with them in Melbourne recently.<\/p>\n

"The Alfa Romeo is a proven race winner and I'm proud to also be representing Autoglym in Australia. It's such a big brand with great heritage.<\/p>\n

"I'm excited to race at Symmons Plains as my first round. It looks a really interesting track and I've watched a lot of video, so I can't wait to get started."<\/p>\n

Oliphant's arrival comes at Michael Caruso's expense, who isn't expected to race in the series in 2023.<\/p>\n

"It's great to welcome Tom to our team, alongside Autoglym in our Alfa Romeo TCR," said team boss Seward.<\/p>\n

"Tom has proven to be a leading contender in touring cars overseas, as well as other racing categories, and to have him choose TCR Australia is a real feather in our cap.<\/p>\n

"There's no doubt that the competition will be very competitive this year.<\/p>\n

"There are some very strong driver and car combinations, and we feel that we have the right ingredients to make a strong tilt for the title.<\/p>\n

"I also would like to thank Michael Caruso for his efforts last year. He was terrific to have as part of our team and I hope we can work together again in the future."<\/p>\n

Oliphant is just the fifth international driver after Teddy Clairet, Christopher Mies, Jean-Karl Vernay, and Nestor Girolami to race in TCR Australia.<\/p>\n

The opening SpeedSeries round, Race Tasmania, at Symmons Plains takes place on February 24-26.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport will carry live, ad-free, and uninterrupted coverage on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

Nine will carry three hours of free-to-air coverage on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.<\/p>\n
