L\ufeffeft-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann could make a shock Test debut in the second game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series<\/a> after being flown to India.<\/p>\n

The left-arm orthodox bowler from Queensland has been summoned to India to replace leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson<\/a>, who's returning home for the birth of his child.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann could play as a third spinner if Cameron Green<\/a>, who's recovering from a broken finger, is able to bowl in Delhi.<\/p>\n

Green is a critical member of the Australian squad because he bats at six and can bowl 140km\/h pace, potentially allowing the tourists to use him as a second quick and opt for three spinners.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann bowls the same style of spin as Ashton Agar<\/a>, who was overlooked for the first Test despite partnering Nathan Lyon<\/a> against South Africa in Sydney in January.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Australia picked off-spinners Lyon and Todd Murphy<\/a>, who claimed seven wickets and completed 47 overs in one innings on his Test debut.\ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Kuhnemann has played 12 first-class matches for a return of 32 wickets at 34.25\ufeff.<\/p>\n

Green, Mitchell Starc (finger) and Josh Hazlewood (Achilles) are all fighting to be fit for \ufeffthe Delhi Test.<\/p>\n

Gun Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja tormented the Australian batters in the first Test in Nagpur\ufeff, combining to take 15 of the 20 wickets.<\/p>\n

Ashwin captured his 450th Test wicket and Jadeja is now just one shy of collecting his 250th.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Australia was thumped by an innings and 132 runs in the opening Test, which ended in the second session of day three on Saturday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

History reflects poorly on the Australians' series victory hopes in India, given\ufeff they've only won Test series from 1-0 down on three occasions: in the 1930 England Ashes, 1936-37 home Ashes and 1997 away Ashes.<\/p>\n

Australia has also only beaten India in Delhi once from seven matches, when\ufeff Richie Benaud skippered his side to victory in 1959.<\/p>\n
