Adelaide Strikers star Jake Weatherald had an eventful match on Sunday after he was run out twice on the same ball during the first innings before putting in a contender for catch of the season.<\/p>\n
Weatherald (31 off 26) was on the wrong end of a bizarre dismissal. The Adelaide opener was at the nonstriker's end when teammate Phillip Salt blasted a Chris Green delivery, which bounced off the Thunder bowler's hand and landed back onto the stumps with Weatherald too slow to back up.<\/p>\n
However, the play then continued when Salt opted to run for a single, with Weatherald slow to realise his teammate's decision as he failed to make it up the pitch in time, effectively being run out twice from the same delivery.<\/p>\n

"He wasn't even backing up that far either, and he's still out \u2026 I think he's got to work on his running between wickets. Seriously, he's got to concentrate more," Australian cricket great Mark Waugh told Fox Cricket.<\/em><\/p>\n "I've never ever seen that before.<\/p>\n "He wasn't backing up, he's just standing there. Good player, but got to wake up when he's running between wickets."<\/p>\n Brett Lee added: "I've never seen anyone run out twice."<\/p>\n Fortunately for Weatherald, the Strikers went on to win the match by six runs to keep their finals hopes alive.<\/p>\n Today's win puts the Strikers in third spot on the BBL ladder with one game in hand before the finals series gets underway.<\/p>\n With the Thunder chasing 160 to win, Weatherald then put in a contender for catch of the season when he helped dismiss Alex Ross who departed for 18.<\/p>\n The Thunder looked as if they had found some momentum and appeared capable of chasing down the total before Weatherald's one-handed catch in the 17th over made the task too difficult.<\/p>\n "That could be the catch of the BBL," Lee told Fox Cricket.<\/em><\/p>\n "What about the hang time! He was up, he is only tiny like Spud Webb.<\/p>\n Waugh added: "That is a great catch.<\/p>\n "Alex Ross thought he had four.
