New footage of the Australian Test team shows just how the group was able to bounce back after the departure of Justin Langer as head coach<\/a>. \ufeff<\/p>\n

In the second series of Amazon's The Test,<\/em> the third episode begins with \ufeffthe Langer resignation, and the Australian team's tour of Pakistan.<\/p>\n

After the squad had arrived in Rawalpindi, skipper Pat Cummins pulled them together for a meeting in the wake of the ex-coach's decision – which had been made just weeks' prior.<\/p>\n

Cummins opened up the room to thoughts and general questions as silence hung in the air.<\/p>\n

"The more we just worry about what's happening here, we don't need to worry about commentators back home that wouldn't have a clue what's happened," he offered.<\/p>\n

"Look after each other."<\/p>\n

That prompted batter Usman Khawaja to address the floor – and stress the importance of mental toughness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"From a psychological point of view, being involved in sub-continent series we've had some real stinkers, and had a couple of good ones," he said.<\/p>\n

"I remember the Sri Lankan series we had a few years ago – I thought we had the perfect game plan in the first Test match and we probably should have won it.<\/p>\n

"The process and everything we were doing was perfect – but then when we lost that game we started second-guessing ourselves. We had three different plans for three different games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"And I think you've got to be really strong in our own belief to go with the plan we have the first time."\u00a0<\/p>\n

David W\ufeffarner chipped in, saying that everyone was there for one another.<\/p>\n

"I think we're in a great space, and if you do have some negative thoughts or whatever, everyone will give you an ear to vent – or if you need a hug, just ask."\u00a0<\/p>\n

WHAT PLAYERS SAID ABOUT LANGER'S DEPARTURE\ufeff<\/strong><\/h3>\n

David Warner:<\/strong> "From my perspective, I could say that he lost a fair few players, and probably the wrong players."<\/p>\n

Nathan Lyon:<\/strong> "Four years is a very long time as a head coach."<\/p>\n

Josh Hazlewood:<\/strong> "The team had changed a lot over that four-year period. We were probably in need of a different support staff, a different coach as opposed to four years ago when JL started."<\/p>\n

Pat Cummins:<\/strong> "He was brilliant when we needed him in those initial years."<\/p>\n

Mitch Marsh:<\/strong> "After South Africa, he turned it around. We became a team that the Australian fans wanted to support again."<\/p>\n

Steve Smith:<\/strong> "He left the team in a better place than when he started."<\/p>\n

Usman Khawaja:<\/strong> "Where the Australian cricket team right now is a byproduct of what JL brought into the group."<\/p>\n
