C\ufeffameron Green<\/a> has set himself up for an eyewatering payday and made Australian history in the process, scoring a deal with the Mumbai Indians<\/a> worth about $3.15 million at the Indian Premier League<\/a> auction on Friday.<\/p>\n

Mumbai won the services of the 23-year-old all-rounder in a tense bidding contest with the Delhi Capitals, making him the most expensive Australian in the IPL in history.<\/p>\n

The purchase of Green was preceded by the Punjab Kings' securing of England quick Sam Curran, who had become the most expensive player in the IPL ever. Curran was snapped up for about\ufeff $3.38 million.<\/p>\n

"I'm pinching myself that this has all happened," Green said.<\/p>\n

"It's such a weird feeling watching an auction for yourself. I can't believe how nervous I was and I was shaking like anything when the final call was confirmed.<\/p>\n

"I've always been a huge fan of the IPL and it's going to be so cool to be a part of it. The Mumbai Indians are one of the powerhouses of the competition so I feel very humbled to be joining them. I can't wait to get there next year."<\/p>\n

Green joined\ufeff fellow Australians Tim David and Jason Behrendorff at Mumbai.<\/p>\n

The Western Australian's\ufeff potential in all forms of cricket is undeniable, so impressive is the power behind his shots, his ability to consistently bowl in excess of 140km\/h, how hard he hits the deck and his fielding, particularly in the gully.<\/p>\n

Since making his international debut in 2020, Green has played 17 Tests, 13 one-dayers and eight T20s, including one T20 World Cup game in Adelaide this year.<\/p>\n

He's only played 13 matches for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Curran landed his unprecedented IPL deal on the back of a tremendous T20 World Cup campaign, which saw the 24-year-old all-rounder crowned player of the tournament<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The left-arm quick captured 13 wickets at the economy of 6.52 and strike-rate of 10.4, and took 5-10 against Afghanistan in Perth.<\/p>\n
