David Warner<\/a> says Cameron Green<\/a>'s ability to spend extended periods away from Australia will be the biggest challenge he'll face after receiving a monster IPL deal.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Perth native was snapped up by the Mumbai Indians for over $3 million<\/a> during the Indian Premier League auction on Friday, making him the most expensive Australian player in the competition's history.<\/p>\n

Warner is no stranger to the pressure of big IPL deals, having plied his trade in the competition for a number of teams over the last decade, and he offered some key advice to the talented all-rounder.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffT\ufeffhere is going to be a lot of pressure, a lot of expectation, that's the nature of the beast when it comes to the IPL," he said.<\/p>\n

\"PERTH,<\/p>\n

"When you see that kind of money thrown around there's going to be a lot of pressure on you. <\/p>\n

"The most important thing for Cameron, and this is a little bit of advice I can give him, is that we went through a four-Test match series, went on to play an IPL series and didn't have that Ashes at the back end. <\/p>\n

"You're going to have a long time away from home as a young kid. How he deals with that himself (is the question). He's got great support I'm sure with his management and his family. That's going to be his biggest hurdle. <\/p>\n

"It's not about going out there and performing, he'll do that, that's inevitable. It's making sure that he's in the right frame of mind to go out there and deliver with the Test matches, then going onto the IPL and the Ashes and the World Cup. <\/p>\n

"There's a lot of cricket to be played, so good luck to all of us."<\/p>\n

Warner suggested that it is unsustainable to expect players to play all three formats of the game with cricket's jam-packed schedule, and expects Green to give up one format as he ages.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe thing I've found most difficult is having a family and playing in all three formats, there isn't enough time on the calendar to spend at home with your family," he said.<\/p>\n

"I think Cameron Green is the perfect example of a youngster coming through that is going to be able to play all three formats. He's going to have a big decision on his hands in a couple of years' time with his body. <\/p>\n

"Shane Watson is a perfect example. \ufeffYou've got Ben Stokes, who gave away one format (ODIs), it's going to be challenging."<\/p>\n
