M\ufeffarnus Labuschagne<\/a>'s blazing start to the summer rolled on and Travis Head<\/a> scored his first Test century at home as Australia piled misery on the West Indies on day one in Adelaide.<\/p>\n

The Australians are \ufeff3-330 at stumps on day one of the day-night second Test<\/a> after Labuschagne compiled 120 runs from 235 balls and Head pummelled 114 from 139.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne's Adelaide century followed an exceptional performance in the Perth Test, which saw Australia's first drop peel off 204 and an unbeaten 104.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne became just the third man in history to have registered three Test centuries in succession against the West Indies, joining Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar (1970-71)\ufeff and Pakistan great Mohammad Yousuf (2006-07).<\/p>\n

Head had struck a one-day international century in Adelaide, against Pakistan in 2017, but\ufeff there was a sense of his maiden Test hundred in the South Australian capital meaning more to him and those in the stands.<\/p>\n

The left-hander\ufeff overcame the devastation of chopping on for 99 in Perth, knocking an Alzarri Joseph delivery down the ground for four as he brought up his century from 125 balls.<\/p>\n

The Redbacks skipper\ufeff twirled his bat over his head like the rotor blade of a helicopter, before punching the air, raising both arms and kissing the Australian coat of arms on his helmet to a warm reception.<\/p>\n

"Play it straight as possible," Head said on the Fox Cricket broadcast when asked what was running through his mind during the 90s.<\/p>\n

"It was nice that I did that.<\/p>\n

"I tried not to cut it off the stumps.<\/p>\n

"Cricket's a funny game. One run does magical things to the brain. It was a long week\ufeff, (it was) nice for the next one to get over the line.<\/p>\n

"Now I can forget about that."<\/p>\n

Labuschagne had\ufeff slashed a Devon Thomas ball through the point region to move to his century.<\/p>\n

The Queenslander joined Bob Simpson, Simon Katich and Lindsay Hassett on 10 Test tons.<\/p>\n

The West Indies had a horrible day, repeatedly putting the ball in the wrong areas and misfielding as captain Kraigg Brathwaite gave himself and six teammates a bowl.<\/p>\n

But the tourists continued to be cruelled by an injury crisis, losing replacement quick Marquino Mindley to a hamstring complaint just two overs into his spell.<\/p>\n

The injury to Mindley followed the losses of pacemen Kemar Roach (hamstring), Jayden Seales (knee) and Kyle Mayers\ufeff (shoulder) after the Perth Test.<\/p>\n
