Belgium\u2019s foreign minister wore a \u201cOne Love\u201d armband when she met with FIFA<\/a> president Gianni Infantino at her country\u2019s World Cup<\/a> match against Canada.<\/p>\n

Hadja Lahbib was pictured wearing the colourful armband \u2014 regarded as a symbol for inclusion and diversity \u2014 that FIFA has prevented captains of seven European teams, including Belgium, from wearing<\/a> at the World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n

They wanted to wear it as a rebuke to host nation Qatar\u2019s human rights record.<\/p>\n

Lahbib posted a photo of herself on Twitter<\/a> wearing the band on her left arm, writing: \u201cMy heart goes out to our Red Devils!\u201d<\/p>\n

FIFA warned the seven European federations that players would be penalised if they wore the armband.<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s players covered their mouths for their team photo<\/a> before their opening World Cup match, a 2-1 loss to Japan, to protest against FIFA\u2019s clampdown on the \u201cOne Love\u201d armband.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a sign from the team, from us," Germany coach Hansi Flick said, "that FIFA is muzzling us.\u201d<\/p>\n

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who is also responsible for sports, also wore a \u201cOne Love\u201d armband in the stands for her country's match, sitting beside Infantino. Faeser posted a photo of herself wearing it<\/a> with the hashtag #OneLove.<\/p>\n
