Ferrari<\/a> has pulled the covers off its Hypercar it will use to try win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023.<\/p>\n

Dubbed the Ferrari 499P, the car's reveal comes on the 50th anniversary since the Ferrari 312 P made its debut in the famed French endurance race.<\/p>\n

The Scuderia will also contest the FIA World Endurance Championship in full next year, marking the first time Ferrari has fielded a factory-backed effort in half a century.<\/p>\n

Ferrari has confirmed the prototype's technical specifications but not who will race the prototypes.<\/p>\n

The 499P is powered by a hybrid 3.0-litre V6, derived from Ferrari's road-going sportscars that is also used in the all-new Ferrari 296 GT3.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 499P name comes from the sum of the engine's capacity, 3000cc, divided by the number of cylinders, six in total. The 'P' refers to Ferrari's line of prototype cars.<\/p>\n

The car is dressed in Ferrari's trademark red with flashes of yellow, which pays homage to the World Sportscar Championship-winning Ferrari 312PB on 1972.<\/p>\n

"The 499P sees us return to compete for outright victory in the WEC series," said Ferrari Executive Chairman John Elkann.<\/p>\n

"When we decided to commit to this project, we embarked on a path of innovation and development, faithful to our tradition that sees the track as the ideal terrain to push the boundaries of cutting-edge technological solutions, solutions that in time will be transferred to our road cars.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"We enter this challenge with humility, but conscious of a history that has taken us to over 20 world endurance titles and nine overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans."<\/p>\n

Ferrari will go head-to-head with Toyota, Peugeot, Porsche, and Cadillac in 2023 in the top Hypercar class.<\/p>\n

The championship, which airs exclusively on Stan Sport, will visit seven different locations next year.<\/p>\n

The season will begin with the 1000 Miles of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway on March 17.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Six-hour races follow at\u00a0 Algarve International Circuit in Portugal and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium across April 16 and April 29 respectively.<\/p>\n

The famed 24 Hours of Le Mans at Circuit de la Sarthe takes place across June 10-11 followed by a month-long break before returning to Monza in Italy for a six-hour race on July 9.<\/p>\n

The penultimate round, another six-hour race, will be held at Fuji Speedway in Japan on September 10.<\/p>\n

The season then concludes with an eight-hour race at Bahrain International Circuit on November 4.<\/p>\n
