Bangladesh escaped with a three-run victory over\ufeff Zimbabwe<\/a> in the T20 World Cup<\/a> at the Gabba on Sunday, but not before having to return to the middle to bowl one more ball amid a crazy turn of events.<\/p>\n

The Tigers looked to have completed the win when Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani, needing five runs to steal victory for his side, skipped out of his crease, took a wild slog and missed the ball, resulting in a stumping.<\/p>\n

The Bangladesh and Zimbabwe players shook hands, and just about all of them were off the field, but the dismissal was being reviewed.<\/p>\n

The review showed wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan had\ufeff taken the ball in front of the stumps, so the dismissal was overturned, a no-ball was called and Zimbabwe was awarded a free hit, prompting the players to return to their positions on the ground.<\/p>\n

Muzarabani\ufeff had to score four runs from what was actually the final delivery of the game, but he missed the ball with another big swing.<\/p>\n

"Oh my goodness!" Pommie Mbangwa had said when the stumping was overturned.<\/p>\n

"Imagine this. The stumps must go back into the ground, the stumps must go back into the ground. The players don't even know this. They're all off the field … oh man!<\/p>\n

"Confusion here in the Gabba as all the spectators had celebrated (or) decided, 'Well, that's that. It's over. Away we go'. Despair for the Zimbabwean fans and now hope again.<\/p>\n

"You could not script the drama!" Mbangwa added when the result was eventually confirmed.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh had batted first and registered 7-150, with opener Najmul Hossain Shanto peeling off 71 runs from 55 balls.<\/p>\n

Sean Williams went close to rescuing Zimbabwe after arriving at the crease at 2-17, plundering 64 from 42. The veteran was run out by an exceptional piece of fielding from Shakib Al Hasan off his own bowling.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Richard Ngarava hammered a six over fine leg in the last over to send the Zimbabweans in the crowd crazy, but the scenes that followed left the passionate fans deflated.\ufeff<\/p>\n
