Devin Haney accused George Kambosos'<\/a> camp of making excuses while the champ's father and trainer<\/a> declared, "My son is going to kick his ass" during a colourful press conference ahead of Sunday's rematch.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHaney<\/a> took exception to comments made by Kambosos' father, Jim, who said there was a lack of urgency in their corner in the first fight and that US trainer Javiel Centeno "didn't execute the right instructions to George".<\/p>\n

Jim Kambosos said he'll be more vocal in his son's corner in the rematch as part of an all-Australian crew.<\/p>\n

That sparked a fiery response from the world champion, who disputed claims by the Australian's camp that they've taken a low-key approach in the lead up.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"They've been quiet but every time they open their mouth it's a different excuse. They talk this quiet stuff but they keep making excuses," Haney said.<\/p>\n

"Now it's the coach, then it was the referee, then it was 'I was holding\ufeff', they've got every excuse in the book but why did you fire your whole team if you truly thought I was holding too much?"\ufeff<\/p>\n

Kambosos was criticised by Haney in the lead up to their first fight for putting on too much of a show, saying he should have stayed quiet.<\/p>\n

Kambosos has done his best to keep a lid on the trash talk for the second bout, while Haney's new title as champ has seen him more active on social media.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old undisputed champion was firing off jabs and challenging rival fighters with plenty of bravado, without taking much notice of the fact he was fighting Kambosos, on the day the fight was made official.<\/p>\n

The Sydney fighter told Wide World of Sports\ufeff he too fell under the curse of being champ, where pride and ego robbed his focus.<\/p>\n

"I don't want to talk, I don't want to show too much. I don't want to be loud. Don't get me wrong I can be loud," Kambosos said.<\/p>\n

"If I want to talk I can put up a lot of things about Haney again but I don't want to. I respect him as a champion.<\/p>\n

"But he's the one doing a lot of talking, he's very distracted now he's arguing with everybody.<\/p>\n

"Where he is now, I have been there. The burden he has now with all the belts I've been there, where you become the hunted.<\/p>\n

"Everyone wants your head and everyone has got something to say. For me people can say whatever they want. I've got nothing to lose now.<\/p>\n

"I'm not thinking about anything but this fight. That's how I got caught up in the last fight thinking too far ahead.<\/p>\n

"He's got that distraction now, everyone is wondering who he's going to fight next. Everyone thinks he's going to get me real easy."<\/p>\n
