Obviously not a great Test match but he started to show some form in the second innings before being deceived by the spinner. A tough series for all the openers and Dave missing the first two Tests didn't help Australia or himself because he just didn't get into the flow.

MARCUS HARRIS: 4

He showed some glimpses in the second innings and he's got some shots, no doubt about it. But he's got some work to do, particularly against the short ball. If he's going to play more Test matches he's going to get tested a lot with the short ball.

https://twitter.com/wwos/status/1351433756733808640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE: 9

Australia's best and most consistent batsman of the series. Another good performance. He's often been in against a very new ball and he's negated that and flourished. A fitting result to the end of a good series for Marnus.

STEVE SMITH: 7

A consistent game, got a good ball in the second innings. He'll be disappointed with how he got out in the first innings, to an offie. It was a half volley outside leg stump, so that just shows he's fallible to me because that wasn't a great delivery that got him out. But made runs in the second innings when we needed him and got Australia in a position where they could win the game.

MATTHEW WADE: 5

I thought he played well in the first innings but will be absolutely kicking himself for the way he got out. He's going to be under pressure, but was strangled down the leg side in the second innings, which often happens when you're in need of some runs. But he needed to cash in in the first innings. A poor shot after playing so well. He's making life hard for himself. I think he can hold down that spot; he just needs to convert these starts into big scores.

CAMERON GREEN: 5

Made 47 in the first innings. Played pretty well. Hung in there, even though he was battling away. But he was definitely under-bowled. One of the problems I have with today's result is Australia didn't bowl him enough. They didn't try enough things. He was under-bowled.

TIM PAINE: 7

I think he batted very well. Made some useful runs. He captained within the game plan and the criticism I have with today's result is it was all too planned. It was a bit like Sydney. He's always just looking to get wickets with Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc and Lyon, but that's not how Test cricket goes. You've sometimes got to manufacture wickets in Test cricket. I think Tim Paine has done a very good job for Australian cricket, but we need to see some flare in his captaincy.

Pat Cummins: 9

He's a quality bowler and he keeps hammering away. He's the clear leader of the attack and he couldn't have been any better in this match and this series.

Mitchell Starc: 4

He's obviously got a problem with his hammy. He continued to try even though his body wasn't allowing him to be at his best, but he was well off.

Josh Hazlewood: 7

He bowled well right throughout the match. On another day he might get more wickets. Josh is always very good. He's always there or there abouts. I generally say I'd like to see him pitch up more and Cummins does the hard yards in terms of the intimidation.

Nathan Lyon: 4

A disappointing game for Lyono. Steady enough but too many balls going down leg side. He was also a bit unlucky. That LBW of Pujara early on today, which was given out on the umpire's review, was probably a turning point. He probably needed something early to get himself going and unfortunately it didn't work for him.

For a daily dose of the best of the breaking news and exclusive content from Wide World of Sports, subscribe to our newsletter by clicking here!

The Gabba has played host to one of the greatest Test matches in history, won by an understrength India late on day five.
