You need to learn from history – and the new Broncos have failed badly in that regard with the Payne Haas incident<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n

Only 12 months ago, then-Broncos coach Anthony Seibold took the team to Burleigh on the Gold Coast for a training session and things got ugly.<\/p>\n

Players had too much to drink after the hard work and there was an altercation between big-name stars Jack Bird and Matt Lodge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The club tried to sweep it under the carpet – and there were also a couple of 'near misses' with the locals before they bussed it back up the freeway to Brisbane in the late afternoon.<\/p>\n

Clearly, Kevin Walters and his staff didn't pick up anything from that experience.<\/p>\n

They again took the team to Burleigh, with the Gold Coast-based players then staying on for a long afternoon of drinking that led to Haas' arrest after police intervened in a drunken argument with his partner.<\/p>\n

The incident itself wasn't overly serious – but if the Broncos looked back to what happened last year, it could all have been avoided.<\/p>\n

RABBITOHS ROCKED BY YOUNG GUN'S INJURY<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Souths have been devastated by a season-ending injury to one of their best up-and-comers, Brock Gardner.<\/p>\n

Gardner, who graduated to the Rabbitohs' top squad last year and came close to playing NRL football several times, tore his achilles at training.<\/p>\n

Gardner is a tall, strong back-rower who is just 21 but has built up an impressive resume.<\/p>\n

He has played NSW under-18s and is a former captain of the Knights' Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams.<\/p>\n

But he now faces a long lay-off – and is unlikely to get back on to the field until 2022.<\/p>\n

WARRIORS RECRUIT IN MAJOR INJURY SCARE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

New signing Ben Murdoch-Masila put a massive scare through the Warriors camp in Tamworth with a suspected torn pec.<\/p>\n

Making his return to the NRL after five seasons in the UK, the 29-year-old reeled out of a wrestling drill in agony and officials feared the worst.<\/p>\n

They immediately sent him off for scans, which showed he had damaged his pec – but only a strain, not a full tear.<\/p>\n

Murdoch-Masila has been ordered to rest the shoulder for a couple of weeks but should be fine for the premiership kick-off in March.<\/p>\n

RIFTS REMAIN FROM CLUB'S FIERY PRESO NIGHT<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One NRL club has some major healing to do before the start of the comp, after a fiery end-of-season presentation night a couple of months back.<\/p>\n

Things got heated between both coaching staff and players as the beers flowed after a frustrating season on and off the field.<\/p>\n

It's been anything but smooth sailing in the months since and some rifts remain unresolved.<\/p>\n

Unless the 'vibe' improves in coming weeks, the club could face a long season.<\/p>\n
