The Eels<\/a> have slayed the Raiders<\/a> 40-4 to reach their first preliminary final since 2009 and book themselves in for a colossal test against the Cowboys<\/a> in Townsville.<\/p>\n

Parramatta was a class above Canberra<\/a> at CommBank Stadium on Friday night, brushing aside talk of three semi-final exits in succession to put itself within one win of its first grand final appearance since 2009.<\/p>\n

Mitchell Moses, Dylan Brown, Clint Gutherson and Junior Paulo\ufeff all fired as the Raiders, buoyed after ousting the Storm in Melbourne in an elimination final<\/a>, slumped to their heaviest finals defeat in history.<\/p>\n

The Eels are now eyeing a preliminary final against the Cowboys at Queensland Country Bank Stadium\ufeff next Friday night.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThey're a great side," Moses said of the Cowboys on Nine's post-game coverage.<\/p>\n

"You've got to play for the full 80 minutes. They showed that last week (against the Sharks).<\/p>\n

"We're going to have to be at our best there, especially playing up there behind their home crowd.<\/p>\n

"It's a good test for us, but we're ready for it."<\/p>\n

In the Eels' only clash with the Cowboys this season, Brad Arthur's men were thumped 35-4 in Darwin in round eight.<\/p>\n

North Queensland finished in third on the ladder and pipped Cronulla in a 32-30 thriller that lasted 92 minutes to advance to the preliminary finals<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Already warm conditions \u2014 30 degrees\ufeff up there (on Friday)," Cameron Smith said of the sweltering Townsville conditions.<\/p>\n

"It'll be humid.<\/p>\n

"If they're any chance to go to a grand final it's this year, and they have to reproduce an effort like this tonight."<\/p>\n

As the scoreboard suggests, the Eels dominated the statistics in their win over the Raiders.<\/p>\n

They had 61 per cent of possession, completed at 83 per cent to the Raiders' 69 and made 2343 metres to Canberra's 1546.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the Eels' most impressive attacking play resulted in a Moses try in the \ufeff46th minute, with Paulo hitting, spinning and dishing off a one-handed offload to Moses and the halfback tearing through a gap to score in the right corner.<\/p>\n

"We've got nothing to lose," Arthur said of the trip to Townsville.<\/p>\n

"Just go after the game \u2014 that's our strength.<\/p>\n

"Maybe we built the game up too much against Penrith, and that comes back to me, so I need to wear that, but at the end of day we've got an opportunity next week and we're going to go after it."<\/p>\n

The second semi-final will see the Rabbitohs meet the Sharks at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night, with the winner set to face reigning premiers the Panthers in a preliminary final.\ufeff<\/p>\n
